Roof waterproofing - an overview of effective and durable solutions

The waterproofing layer is most often the last layer of the roof exposed to unfavorable conditions and must have appropriate mechanical resistance due to the presence of various media on the roof that must be serviced.

Methods of waterproofing flat roofs

Roof waterproofing methods differ in quality, durability and performance parameters:

Waterproofing based on bituminous dispersions, most often applied with brushes or brushes.
Waterproofing mechanically attached or glued using PVC or EPDM membranes
Waterproofing based on felt and here we have a multitude of solutions, from two-layer systems (underlay and surface felt) mechanically attached or welded to single-layer systems
Liquid waterproofing membranes (commonly also called liquid rubber on the roof), in which the base material may be acrylic dispersion, aliphatic (UV resistant) aromatic (not resistant to UV) and two -component polychococcal

All these above-mentioned technologies can be used both in newly constructed buildings, e.g. on concrete flat roofs, as well as in renovations of waterproofing of flat felt roofs.

These technologies differ in price, execution time and durability

But also other parameters such as mechanical resistance, resistance to root growth (this is important in the waterproofing of a green roof), as well as, for example, the degree of light reflection.

One of the most favorable, in terms of price and durability, waterproofing methods of flat roofs are liquid membranes ( liquid rubber on the roof ).

1. Neoroof liquid hybrid membrane

A liquid hybrid acrylic membrane is a great budget solution where we are looking for a relatively low price, quick application and excellent waterproofing parameters. Neoroof creates a homogeneous (without joints and joints), flexible membrane that covers hairline cracks and provides complete protection against moisture and resistance to standing water on flat roofs. Moreover, it provides long-term resistance to ultraviolet radiation and unfavorable weather conditions without the use of additional layers of UV protection. It remains flexible in the temperature range from -35°C to +80°C. Provides over 15 years of waterproofing durability. Neoroof applied both manually (brush, roller) and by spraying. Before applying the proper waterproofing, the substrate should be thoroughly primed using dedicated system primers, e.g. REVINEX .

2. Neoproof PU W-40 liquid polyurethane membrane for cold application

Neoproof PU W-40 is a polyurethane membrane for cold application. It is characterized by high mechanical resistance, so it can be used wherever the roof movement will be larger than standard . Neoproof PU W-40 forms a smooth, homogeneous surface without UV resistant joints, rainfall of acid rain, water stagnants and other adverse conditions.

Can be applied in cloudy weather (hardens by evaporation, does not require UV radiation),
Remains flexible in a wide temperature range from -40°C to +80°C,
Minimum ambient temperature during application 10°C,
Environmentally and user-friendly (one-component water-based product),

3. Neoproof Polyurea C1 cold applied liquid polyurea membrane

The waterproofing of a flat roof using a liquid polychocaster membrane is the perfect solution if we want to get a roof with extraordinary durability parameters - over 25 years. The waterproofing will be chemo -resistant, resistant to UV radiation, resistant to stretch of water. Media service technicians can walk freely, because this membrane is very mechanically resistant. It is also characterized by high flexibility of over 400%, which guarantees tightness even on roofs, which work very much under the influence of rapidly changing temperatures, or because of the design itself or the material used.

One of the most popular waterproofing technologies of roofing roofs, bitten by the tooth of time, is the use of liquid roof membranes .

The use of liquid roofing membranes on flat felt roofs has the following advantages:

zero surface absorption - thanks to this, snow does not stick to the surface - easier removal of snow from the roof surface, in the case of roofing felt, the snow often freezes and is difficult to remove snow without causing mechanical damage
High durability over 25 years and ease of maintenance - no need to use fire (welding) or specialized hot gluing devices.
