Sealing and renovation of a roof covered with a PVC membrane

PVC membrane is a popular roof covering, but if it starts to leak after some time, we can easily seal it by applying the Neoproof PU W-40 waterproof membrane. To do this, we first need to properly prepare the substrate.

STEP 1 – thoroughly wash the surface

Before we start any work, we must thoroughly wash the substrate. A pressure washer is best for this purpose. Emulsol RN-1 washing concentrate , but we must remember to rinse it thoroughly afterwards. We wait until the substrate dries and we start further work.

STEP 2 - washing the substrate with MEK thinner

We wash the substrate with MEK thinner (methyl ethyl ketone, product on request, please contact us). This treatment aims to gently dissolve the PVC membrane to ensure adhesion to the surface layer.

The theoretical consumption of diluent will be approximately 50-100 grams/m2².

STEP 3 – application of Vinyfix Primer

Vinyfix Primer diluted with 15% thinner for polyvinyl products to the sticky PVC membrane

STEP 4 – application of the Neoproof PU W-40 waterproof membrane

12 hours after applying the primer, we start applying the first layer of the waterproof Neoproof PU W-40 . After 24 hours from the first layer, start painting the second layer. It is a water-soluble product in liquid form that can be applied like traditional paint. Theoretical consumption for two coats will be approximately 1.3 kg/m2. If there are cracks on the PVC membrane or places requiring treatment (fireplaces, walls, air conditioners), we also use Neotextile . In these places you need to apply three layers of Neoproof PU W-40 .

• The same product protects all elements that may appear on the roof (fireplaces, skylights, air conditioners, walls, etc.).
• The coating is fully resistant to standing water, UV radiation and atmospheric factors.

• Long-term protection (minimum 11 years with two layers, minimum 20 years with three layers with Neotextile ).
• Repainting the roof in a light color allows you to lower its temperature, as well as the temperature in the rooms below it.
