Using this resin, you'll achieve a uniform, gray coating that's resistant to water, UV radiation, and changing weather conditions. It's a quick-drying system. After applying the primer, apply the first layer of resin. After five hours, you can apply the second layer. Choosing an epoxy primer , which often has a specific purpose, such as sealing off moisture in the event of capillary action or simply damp concrete, is the ideal solution if such a phenomenon occurs. For decks with high sun exposure , it's necessary to cover the epoxy with a layer of UV-resistant resin—polyurethane (resin in a specific color) or polyurea (resin in a specific color). It's also worth noting that epoxy resin typically requires a minimum temperature of 12 degrees Celsius during the application process, which, including curing, takes 7 days.
Epoxy resin is ideal for indoor terraces that don't receive much sunlight. For outdoor terraces, remember that epoxy isn't UV-resistant, which means it can yellow or chalk. Therefore, it can be used as an intermediate layer (e.g., Epoxol Floor – to achieve a mirror effect) or as a primer for epoxy primers. When choosing epoxy resin as an intermediate layer, remember to add a UV-resistant topcoat – for example, Neodur Special polyurethane balcony resin , tinted in RAL colors, if a specific color is important for the planned project. Colodur ECO polyurethane varnish also works well.

The key to choosing resin for balconies is its durability, resistance to low and high temperatures, as well as precipitation and humidity. Thanks to its properties, resin users on balconies have eliminated problems such as leaks and peeling balcony flooring, which often occurred every spring with previously used solutions. Modern solutions for balcony protection using resin-based products, in their basic versions, are also frequently chosen by developers due to their high quality to price ratio, the possibility of obtaining various patterns and colors, and the ease and speed of application. Thanks to the use of anti-slip additives, the finished floor is completely safe and suitable for use all year round!
The most popular resins used on balconies include products that can be divided into several criteria, such as application time or full floor waterproofing. If you want or need to complete the job quickly, the first choice is the Neodur Fast Track . Using this type of balcony resin allows you to complete the entire job in about 1.5 days! If full waterproofing is the criterion, the application time is longer, but you can achieve a complete system that fully protects the floor against leaks and cracks. The product used is Neoproof Polyurea R , whose flexibility prevents the previously mentioned problems, which often occur on balconies. Neoproof Polyurea R is available in several color variants, which serve as an ideal base for Troken Stone , a liquid granite. This finish will give any balcony a modern character. To seal the coating, apply Floortop 1K or Colodur ECO Matt varnish. Remember to always prepare the substrate and choose the appropriate primer before applying the resin, which you can find here .
Stone carpet itself isn't slippery. Like any other surface, including patio tiles, it can become slippery if water or snow falls on it.
The surface for the stone carpet should, above all, have a suitable slope, as with other terrace systems. Using the right underlayment is crucial. In the case of terraces or balconies, moisture is rarely a problem. This can be caused by capillary moisture rising from below (in the case of terraces set on the ground) or moisture from rainfall. In the former case, choose Neopox Primer AY , and in the latter, Neopox Primer WS . If there are any gaps in the substrate, they should be filled, for example, with Epoxol Putty epoxy putty or Neodur FT Putty fast-drying polyurea putty . If the substrate is very uneven, for example after removing tiles and removing adhesive, the entire surface can be leveled using an "epoxy screed," a mixture of resin (e.g., Epoxol Primer SF ) with appropriate fractions of quartz sand. Then, apply waterproofing. For this purpose, we recommend the Neoproof Polyurea R liquid waterproof membrane. We can lay a stone carpet on the surface prepared in this way.
Resins that are UV and water resistant should be used on balconies and terraces. These are the two main factors that influence the durability of the coating. Epoxy resins should not be used outdoors as a finishing layer. They can be used as a base for other resins, but they should never be the final coating on a balcony. For a simple reason: they are not resistant to sunlight. UV exposure discolors and chalks them (a white coating appears), which slowly degrades them. An exception to this are some epoxy resins for stone carpets, which can be used outdoors, but slight yellowing should be expected. Polyurethane or polyurea resins are best for terraces and balconies. There are two types: aromatic and aliphatic. Aliphatic resins are fully UV resistant and should be chosen accordingly. These include Neodur Special , Neodur Fast Track , and Neodur FT Elastic . Don't skimp on the material – it's important to create a tight coating of the appropriate thickness. Use at least the amount of material indicated in the product data sheet and apply two layers.
It's possible, but we don't recommend it if the tiles are already leaking. Moisture trapped under the tiles never completely dries. If we apply a tight resin coating over it, over time, the moisture trying to escape through the grout will cause the coating to peel off. Grout is a very small surface, so moisture seeping in from underneath creates quite a high pressure. If the tiles are tight but you simply don't like their appearance, you can repaint them using the special Super Spoiwo RO3333 bonding primer . Then, choose one of the sunlight- and weather-resistant resins – Neodur Special , Neodur FT Elastic , or Neodur Fast Track . Don't skimp on the material – it's important to create a tight coating of the appropriate thickness. Use at least the amount of material recommended in the product data sheet and apply two coats.
Before applying resin to a balcony, all cracks should be smoothed and filled. It's also crucial to use a suitable primer. A very common mistake is to apply tile adhesive first – this mistake eliminates the possibility of applying resin to a balcony or terrace. The best substrate for resin is simply good-quality concrete.
