Concrete tiles are a very popular roof covering, but over time they may lose their color and become covered with moss. If the tiles are not cracked and the roof is not leaking, there is no need to replace them - they can be easily washed and repainted! After such treatment, the roof looks like new and is protected against re-growth of moss. The coating is hydrophobic, so dirt does not stick easily and is washed away by rain. Below is a step-by-step description of the full system.

Roof cleaning and renovation - step by step

Step 1 - wash the substrate with Sulfanol A using a brush or washcloth, and then rinse thoroughly with water (remains of the preparation may impair the adhesion of the paint). This will help get rid of atmospheric and other dirt. The agent is biodegradable, so we don't have to worry if it flows into the ground through gutters.

Step 2 - if there are mosses or lichens on the roof, the surface should be sprayed or repainted with the fungicide GrzyboStop . Even if after washing the roof with high pressure, the fungi have been removed from the surface and are not visible to the naked eye, their spores still remain in the pores. Over time, they will start to grow back, breaking through the paint and causing it to peel.

Step 3 - after 24 hours, prime the surface with deep-penetrating Sil-Grunt diluted with tap water in a 1:1 ratio. Thanks to extremely small units, the agent penetrates deep into porous substrates, sealing them, stabilizing them and improving the adhesion of the topcoat paint. Primer should not be added to the paint. Appropriate priming of the substrate always has a significant impact on the durability and quality of the topcoat. Additionally, on an unprimed surface, paint consumption will be higher.

Step 4 - 2 hours after applying the primer, apply Acrylic-Silicone Paint to the roof tiles in two or three layers at an interval of 24 hours. Do not dilute with excessive amounts of water to increase efficiency! If, after starting painting, too much absorption into the substrate is observed (so-called "drinking of the substrate"), stop painting and repeat priming. On roof tiles, the resulting coating should be at least 0.1 mm (100 microns) thick. Too thin a coating will not provide sufficient protection and will worsen the durability of the painting.
