Case study: Waterproofing two 1600 m² roofs using Neoproof Polyurea R membrane

In the following case study, we examine the waterproofing of two roofs with a total area of ​​approximately 1,600 m² . These structures were originally covered with bituminous felt , but the investor opted for a modern and durable solution – the Neoproof Polyurea R liquid waterproofing membrane . Let's take a step-by-step look at the roof renovation process.

Substrate preparation – cleanliness is key

The process began with a thorough pressure washing of the roofs to remove any contaminants and prepare the surface for further work. Specialized cleaning agent Emulsol RN-1 .

Sealing details and joints

The next stage was to thoroughly secure the sensitive areas:

• Neotex PU Joint , a flexible polyurethane mass, was used to seal the joints and to attach the lightning protection system.
• The chimney caps were painted twice with Neoproof PU W-40 in brick red (RAL3009), providing them with protection against moisture and aesthetic appearance.

After securing the details, work began on reinforcing the roofing felt joints and other critical points using Neotextile NP . This fabric was embedded in the mass using the "wet-on-wet" method, and it was used with an overlap in the chimney corners to increase tightness and durability.

After proper surface preparation, the application of the appropriate membrane began:

• The first layer was applied by spraying evenly over the entire roof surface.
• The second layer was applied after approximately 10 hours (depending on the ambient and substrate temperature). Importantly, the product can be applied not only by spraying but also by brush or roller.

Fast curing and weather resistance

One of Neoproof Polyurea R's is its resistance to rain within just one hour of application . This is a huge advantage, especially during uncertain weather forecasts, which often complicate roof waterproofing or renovation work.

The end result – a tight and durable surface

After completion of the work, the roofs were covered with a uniform, flexible and fully tight membrane , which not only protects against water, but also reduces the temperature on the roof surface and inside the building (the so-called "cold roof effect").
