PVC membranes are a popular roof covering, but if they start to leak over time, they can be easily sealed with the Neoproof PU W-40 waterproof membrane. To do this, you first need to properly prepare the substrate.

STEP 1 – thoroughly cleaning the surface

Emulsol RN-1 cleaning concentrate , but remember to rinse it thoroughly afterwards. Wait for the surface to dry before proceeding.

STEP 2 – washing the substrate with MEK thinner

We clean the substrate with MEK thinner (methyl ethyl ketone, available on request; please contact us for details). This process gently dissolves the PVC membrane to ensure adhesion of the topcoat.

Theoretical consumption of thinner will be approximately 50-100 grams/m2.

STEP 3 – Applying Vinyfix Primer

Vinyfix Primer diluted 15% with a thinner for polyvinyl products to the sticky PVC membrane

STEP 4 – application of the Neoproof PU W -40 waterproof membrane

Twelve hours after applying the primer, apply the first layer of the Neoproof PU W-40 . 24 hours after the first coat, apply the second layer. This is a water-soluble liquid product that is applied like traditional paint. Theoretical consumption for two coats is approximately 1.3 kg/m². If the PVC membrane has cracks or areas requiring treatment (fireplaces, walls, air conditioners), we also use Neotextile . Apply three coats of Neoproof PU W-40 .

Advantages of sealing and renovating the roof with the Neoproof PU W -40 membrane

  • We obtain a homogeneous coating, without any joints through which water could potentially leak in the future.
  • With the same product we protect all elements that may appear on the roof (fireplaces, skylights, air conditioners, walls, etc.).
  • The coating is fully resistant to standing water, UV radiation and atmospheric factors.
  • Very flexible coating, works together with the roof.
  • Long-lasting protection (minimum 11 years with two layers, minimum 20 years with three layers with Neotextile ).
  • Painting your roof a light color can lower its temperature, as well as the temperature in the rooms beneath it.
