EPODUX IM 209 for technical water tanks

Epodux IM 209 for technical water tanks is a moisture-tolerant paint designed to protect steel and concrete structures immersed in freshwater, seawater, and saltwater. It's also perfect for painting swimming pools. Thanks to the curing process that occurs underwater, the item can be immersed in water just 30 minutes after application. The cured coating is watertight, so it can be applied to permeable concrete tanks. If a highly chemically resistant coating is required, consider Neopox CR .

Application on a steel substrate

The paint can be applied directly to non-corroded steel. If corrosion is present, mechanically remove loose rust, then apply Neodur Metalforce . After 24 hours, apply Neopox Primer 815 For stainless steel, use Neotex Inox Primer.

Application on concrete

A common problem with closed concrete tanks is that the concrete cannot be completely dried. In this case, we recommend using Neopox Primer WS Neopox Primer AY, an epoxy primer resistant to capillary moisture (concrete moisture <8-10%). If none of the moisture problems mentioned above occur, a "traditional" epoxy primer, such as Epoxol Primer SF-P . Alternatively, you can choose the fast-drying polyurea primer Neodur Fast Track PR Epoxol Primer can be used, which penetrates deeper into the substrate. In this case, two primers will be necessary. Any gaps in the substrate can be filled with Epoxol Putty Neodur FT Putty fast-drying polyurea For closed tanks, adequate ventilation must be ensured at all stages of the work, regardless of the primer chosen.

Recommended layer thicknesses:

• Tanks for fresh or salt water, temp. < 40°C - 2 x 100 µm - efficiency for a full layer 4.2 m2 ^/ l
• Chemical tanks, sewage - 2 x 200 µm - efficiency for a full layer of 2.1 m2 ^/ l
• Tanks for fresh or salt water, temp. > 40°C and < 120°C - 2 x 250 µm - efficiency for a full layer of 1.6 m2 ^/ l

Epodux IM 209 for technical water tanks - properties:

• 30 minutes after painting, the element can be immersed in water, where the hardening process will take place (polymerization under water),
• good adhesion on cold and damp (non-dripping) surfaces, this function allows painting of active channels without significant time losses related to maintenance breaks,
• does not chalk under the influence of UV (only slight discoloration is possible),
• perfect protection for seeping concrete tanks (tight coating)

Epodux IM 209 is a two-component paint (the price is for a complete set, i.e., base and hardener). If you need to mix a smaller amount of paint, we recommend the Epodux Paint and Varnish Mixing Cup.
