How should you properly protect or renovate your pool to ensure its long-lasting effect? The popularity of so-called "open-air" pools increases every year. Most people dream of a pool filled with pristine water during hot summers. But is the water always safe and suitable for use? To maintain the water's optimal quality, owners often resort to extensive maintenance procedures to clean and maintain the pool surface. Unfortunately, these are periodic solutions that consume significant amounts of time and money.

We address all challenges head-on and focus on solutions that minimize the number and frequency of maintenance procedures. One such solution is Neopox Pool , which provides an innovative yet easy-to-apply pool protection system .

By painting pool surfaces with Neopox Pool resin, we achieve smooth, uniform coatings that are easy to clean and resistant to weather conditions. The coating's long-lasting cleanliness stems from its properties – its slippery finish and seamless surface make it difficult for algae to adhere and for water to penetrate through the topcoat. The coating is resistant to chlorine and water pressure, preventing it from peeling from the substrate. UV filters ensure color durability . Neopox Pool ensures a completely waterproof coating on a variety of substrates, making it ideal for renovating old pools with finishes like tiles. Depending on the substrate, the resin can be applied with or without primer.

When applying to dry concrete, the resin should be diluted appropriately with a system thinner . A similar approach applies to pools made of a synthetic material called polyester (the polyester coating should be matted before applying Neopox Pool). For tiles, the substrate should be primed in one coat with Super Spoiwo RO3333 .

Pool protection - Substrate preparation before applying Neopox Pool

Before applying the resin, any substrate should be cleaned of dust and other contaminants that could negatively impact adhesion between the product and the substrate. Any old coatings must be removed immediately

Once the surface has been cleaned, you can move on to the next step : priming . Below is a list of examples of primers suitable for various substrate types.

Type of substrate Ground Theoretical consumption/capacity
Dry concrete, polyester -* -*
Concrete absorbs moisture by capillary action Neopox Primer AY for one layer 0.4-0.5 kg/m2
Fresh concrete (minimum 2 weeks) Neopox Primer WS for one layer 0.2-0.3kg/m2
Tiles Super Binder RO3333 from 1l to 30 m2
Metal Neopox Special Primer 1225 for one layer 0.14-0.17 kg/m2

* When applied to dry concrete, no primer is required, making application quick and easy. Neopox Pool only needs to be diluted with a system thinner: the first coat 8%, and the second and third coats 4%.

Neopox Pool App

Most of Neopox Pool's strengths stem from its unique properties. Neopox Pool is a solvent-based epoxy resin disinfectant used in swimming pools . Chalk formation is a common occurrence among epoxy resins. In the case of Neopox Pool resin, the coating is resistant to radiation because it contains a special UV filter. The product is also resistant to temperature fluctuations over a wide range: from -20°C to 70°C, which is a significant advantage when used in outdoor pools .

Depending on the substrate, Neopox Pool is applied in 2-3 coats using a nylon roller , a natural-bristle brush, or an airless spray. For newly painted surfaces, we recommend applying three coats; for renovations, we recommend applying two coats. Theoretical consumption for a single 80-micron is 0.165 kg/m² . Depending on the substrate type and condition, product consumption may vary. It is crucial not to skimp on the number of coats or the amount of paint applied, as too thin a coating will allow water to permeate and lead to the resin separating from the substrate.

During application, parameters such as temperature and air humidity are also important. The minimum application temperature is 12°C . Air humidity should be less than 70% . The time interval between coats depends on the temperature at which the product will be applied. At the lowest permissible temperature, 12°C, the time after which another coat can be applied is 36 hours . The higher the temperature, the shorter the drying time.

We recommend following all the above-mentioned parameters during application to achieve a coating with the properties described above and enjoy it in good condition for many years. Failure to do so may result in problems with the coating curing, peeling, etc.
