Revinex is a universal product with versatile applications. Some of them are still undiscovered by contractors, such as sealing concrete mixtures. Below are some interesting applications and a brief description of the material itself.

Revinex is a water-based copolymer preparation , specially designed to enhance the properties of cement mortars, plasters, concrete substrates, etc. Particularly known for its use as a primer for Neoroof and Neoproof PU W-40 , but also, for example, as an additive to external plasters .

What benefits does the use of Revinex give us in these situations?

Revinex creates waterproof, durable and crack-resistant plasters. When used as a base for roofing felt, it closes its pores, which reduces the efficiency of the target material (membranes). One of the most important applications is to strengthen the connection between old concrete and new concrete.

Concrete sealcoating: how to get it?

When waterproofness is the most important parameter, we recommend covering the substrate with a mixture of 2 parts of cement and 1 part of Revinex and applying it with a stiff brush . Then we apply the final layer of mortar, also made with the addition of Revinex. This ensures excellent results in terms of water resistance . 11 mm thick mortar , made in the proportion of 1 part of cement: 3 parts of sand with the addition of approximately 7.5 l of Revinex per 50 kg of cement , was subjected to the pressure of a 30-meter water column 10 weeks , achieving complete watertightness .

The addition of Revinex to cement-based mixtures causes:

  • high water impermeability,
  • excellent adhesion to various substrates,
  • possibility of applying thick layers at once, which makes application much easier,
  • increasing abrasion resistance, thanks to which floors produce less dust
  • increasing the resistance to shrinkage and expansion, thus reducing the risk of cracks,
  • greater resistance to bending and stretching,
  • shrinkage reduction (up to 700%) during mixture hardening,
  • increased resistance to hydrochloric, lactic and acetic acid.

A very important feature of the product is that it reduces the addition of mixing water by as much as 25% . For example, by adding 7.5 kg of Revinex to 50 kg of cement, we can reduce the amount of mixing water because Revinex does not dry out as quickly as water and allows for longer work with the ready mixture.

The various uses of Revinex® are described in the table below.

APPLICATION OBJECTIVE INGREDIENTS PROPORTIONS
Primer for water-based paint coatings Neoroof® and Neoproof® PU W-40 elastomeric roofing membranes , as well as cement waterproofing systems Revinex® 1 kg of Revinex® per 3-4 kg of water

Theoretical consumption 40-60 grams/m22

Enrichment of waterproofing cement mixtures, e.g. Neopress® Crystal Waterproofing of basements, underground parts of walls, swimming pools (under tiles), increased resistance to positive and negative hydrostatic pressure Revinex®, water, Neopress® Crystal 4kg Revinex®, 4kg water, 25kg Neopress Crystal

+ addition of water

Slurry mortar Connecting old concrete with new Cement, sand, Revinex® Proportion (by volume): 1 part of cement: 1 part of sand 0.1-0.3 mm: 0.5-1 part of Revinex®
Concrete floor screeds Industrial floors with increased mechanical and chemical resistance Cement, sand, gravel, Revinex®, water, Eurofiber® polypropylene fibers 5-10kg Revinex® / 50kg cement
Cement base Improving the adhesion of plasters and mortars to the substrate Cement, sand, Revinex®, water 7-10kg of Revinex® / 50kg of cement
Strengthening tile adhesive Increasing the adhesion, water impermeability and elasticity of tile adhesive in rooms exposed to moisture (swimming pools, bathrooms, kitchens) Tile adhesive, Revinex®, water 1-2kg of Revinex® / 25kg of tile adhesive

For thin layers of screeds/mortars, a higher addition of Revinex is recommended (from the upper range given in the table above) . We hope that after reading this article, the Revinex product will have no secrets from anyone and will gain new supporters, especially when used as an additive to cement mortars or as a sealant for concrete .
