Tanks in sewage treatment plants are particularly exposed to various processes that affect their durability. One of the most destructive factors are acids and other chemical compounds that destroy the surface of both concrete and steel tanks. Other important erosion factors are sand and organic residues in sewage. Large amounts of sand and the intensity of sewage flow through channels and technical tanks cause intensive abrasion of the concrete surface layers.

neopox cr chemical-resistant protection

A product that meets the requirements for securing tanks and channels in sewage treatment plants is Neopox CR . It is a solvent-free epoxy system with very high chemical resistance . This product was created to protect tanks and other surfaces exposed to chemicals, acids, alkalis and petrochemical products (except unleaded gasoline). It is recommended for use in shafts, sewage tanks, water treatment plants and water supply companies.

The table below shows the chemical resistance of the Neopox CR product to the action of chemical compounds that may be present in a given investment.

When renovating tanks, it is very important to determine the condition of the substrate.

Depending on the type of substrate, pay attention to:

For a concrete base:

  • the substrate must be of good quality
  • have adequate compressive strength (minimum 25 N/mm 2)
  • achieved a Pull-Off test result of over 1.5 MPa
  • was clean and dry (maximum humidity 4%) if the substrate cannot dry, use Neopox Primer WS
  • was cleaned of loose particles, cement laitance and old, poorly adhering coatings.
  • The substrate must be well insulated against negative water pressure or capillary action. If this condition is not met, Neopox Primer AY . The product is resistant to negative water pressure and capillary moisture.

When using a steel substrate, remember to:

  • the substrate must be clean, dry, free of dust, oil, grease and poorly adhering old coatings. We recommend using Emulsol degreasing agent to degrease the surface .
  • If rust , remove it and prepare the surface to Sa 2 ½
  • priming the black steel Neopox Primer 815 anti-corrosion

Local holes in the concrete should be filled with Epoxol Putty . On horizontal surfaces, to fill in gaps, you can use putty made of Epoxol Primer SF combined with fine sand in a weight ratio of 1:2-3 .

Additional and undoubted advantages of the Neopox CR are ease of application (brush roller or hydrodynamic unit) and low product consumption of 0.66-0.8 kg/m 2 on horizontal surfaces and 0.56-0.66 kg/m 2 on vertical surfaces .
