Wastewater treatment plant tanks are particularly vulnerable to various processes that impact their durability. Among the most destructive factors are acids and other chemical compounds, which damage the surface of both concrete and steel tanks. Other significant erosion factors include sand and organic residues in wastewater. Large amounts of sand and the high flow rate of wastewater through channels and technical tanks cause intense abrasion of concrete surface layers.

neopox cr chemical resistant protection

Neopox CR is a product that meets the requirements for protecting tanks and channels in wastewater treatment plants . It is a solvent-free epoxy system with very high chemical resistance . This product was created to protect tanks and other surfaces exposed to chemicals, acids, bases, and petrochemical products (excluding unleaded gasoline). It is recommended for use in shafts, sewage tanks, water treatment plants, and water utilities.

The table below presents the chemical resistance of the Neopox CR product to chemical compounds that may be present on a given investment.

When renovating tanks, it is very important to determine the condition of the substrate.

Depending on the type of substrate, you should pay attention to:

On a concrete base:

  • the substrate must be of good quality
  • have adequate compressive strength (minimum 25 N/mm2 )
  • achieved a Pull-Off test result above 1.5 MPa
  • was clean and dry (maximum humidity 4%). If the substrate cannot be dried, use Neopox Primer WS
  • has been cleaned of loose particles, cement laitance and old, poorly adhering coatings.
  • The substrate must be well insulated against negative water pressure or capillary moisture. If this condition is not met, Neopox Primer AY . The product is resistant to negative water pressure and capillary moisture.

When using a steel base, remember to:

  • The surface must be clean, dry, and free of dust, oil, grease, and poorly adhering old coatings. We recommend using Emulsol degreasing agent degrease the surface .
  • If rust , it should be removed and the surface should be prepared to Sa 2 ½.
  • priming the black steel with Neopox Primer 815

Localized voids in the concrete should be filled with Epoxol Putty . a putty made of Epoxol Primer SF combined with fine sand in a weight ratio of 1:2-3 can be used to fill voids .

Additional and undoubted advantages of the Neopox CR are ease of application (roller, brush or hydrodynamic unit) and low product consumption of 0.66-0.8 kg/m2 on horizontal surfaces and 0.56-0.66 kg/m2 on vertical surfaces .
