Roof waterproofing

Roofing waterproofing is a key element of building protection against moisture and water. A well -made hydroiovation ensures long -term protection, prevents damage to the structure and extends the life of the roofing. Below are the methods that are used to perform waterproofing, as well as how to properly care for it.

What is roof hydro -insulation?

Roofing waterproofing is a process of protecting the roof surface against water and moisture penetration. It consists in the use of materials designed for this, such as liquid resin membranes, which create a tight barrier protecting the building against leaks and damage caused by water.

Why does the roof require waterproofing?

The roof is the most exposed to atmospheric factors a part of the building. Rain, snow, frost or intense solar radiation can lead to:

  • mechanical damage,
  • leaks,
  • formation of mold and mushrooms inside the building.

Roof hydro -insulation provides effective protection against these threats.

What are the effects of the lack of adequate insulation?

Lack of adequate roof waterproofing can lead to many problems, such as:

  • damage to the roof and wall structure,
  • stains in the rooms in the attic,
  • the formation of moisture and fungus,
  • reduction of the building's energy efficiency,
  • The need for expensive repairs.

Types of roof waterproofing

Depending on the type of roof and its construction, various waterproofing methods are used:

Bituminous waterproofing

Bituminous materials such as asphalt felt are a traditional solution in roof waterproofing. They are characterized by durability and ease of application. Most often in the case of repairs, local application of an additional layer of roofing felt is used, which burden the building structure. Applied regularly as a renovation, for many years, significantly affects structural stress. The cost of papa utilization itself is also considerable to other methods popular nowadays.

Liquid waterproofing

Liquid waterproofing membranes are used in the form of a coating, which curves a tight membrane. This solution is particularly useful for complex roof shapes, as well as flat roofs.

Products:

  • Neoproof® Polyurea R - a durable, flexible polymaber coating, which is perfect for high -exposure roofs to weather conditions. The product has resistance to early rainfall, so it can be applied with uncertain weather conditions.
  • Neoproof® PU W -40 -a high -flexible polyurethane membrane, ideal for flat roofs. It is a single -component product, which thanks to its structure is simple in the application, for which only a roller is needed.
  • Neoproof® PU Fast -30 -quick -drying polyurethane product, designed for quick application on various surfaces. This liquid membrane also has resistance to early rainfall, and thanks to a short curing time allows you to finish work in one day.
  • Neoroof® - a product based on acrylic resins, resistant to UV radiation and perfect for roofs exposed to intense sun.

Advantages of roof waterproofing

Roof hydro -insulation made using liquid resin membranes brings many benefits. Among them is to reduce the roof temperature and apartments on the last floors, thanks to the use of light colors of liquid waterproofing membranes that effectively reflect the sun's rays. Refreshed rays, however, increase the efficiency of photovoltaic panels. In addition, the advantages of waterproofing include:

Protection of the roof against moisture and leaks

Thanks to the waterproofing, the roof is resistant to water penetration, which prevents damage to the structure and the interior of the building. This affects the final comfort of using the building by residents who live in the last floors of the buildings.

Extending the life of the roofing

A well -protected roof using liquid waterproofing membranes, e.g. from the Neoproof® extends its service life by up to over 25 years. At the investment planning stage, it is worth checking if the roof sheathing requires reinforcement, e.g. using a specialized non -woven fabric that strengthens Neotextile® .

How to prepare a roof for waterproofing?

Appropriate roof preparation is crucial for the effectiveness of waterproofing. This process takes a few steps, and they are:

Surface cleaning

Removing impurities such as dust, leaves or moss is necessary before starting work. If the beginnings of mold appears on the surface, then it is worth using a fungicide, which is a mycelium . This preparation not only helps to effectively remove developed mold, but also neutralizes mycelium spores that could develop in the future in favorable weather conditions. Roof sheathing should also be degreased using Sulfanol A.

Damage repair

All defects or cracks in the roof surface should be repaired to ensure insulation tightness. Effective fillers can be both acrylic Jointex® and the Neotex® PU Joint .

Priming surface

Before applying a water membrane on roofing felt, such as Neoproof® PU W -40 , Neoroof® or Neoproof® PU Fast -30 , the surface should be primed using Revinex® . Priming ensures better adhesion and durability of the coating. Neoproof® Polyurea R can be applied directly, without land. Grunting agents should always be selected to the surface for which the liquid waterproofing membrane is to be applied.

How to do the roof waterproofing?

The process of waterproofing depends on the selected method, but the general steps are similar. The individual stages are presented below.

Securing connections

Tight connections between insulation sheets or layers are crucial for waterproofing. All connections of the divisions and levels are sensitive, so they should be made at the beginning of waterproofing. Neotextile® non -woven nonwoven is used , which is pasted "wet on wet".

Applying the insulation layer

The insulation material should be applied evenly to the entire surface of the roof, paying special attention to the contact and edges. The second layer of the product should be applied crossly, i.e. in a different direction than the first layer of liquid waterproofing membrane was applied.

Hardening

In the case of liquid waterproofing membranes, it is necessary to properly harden the material before exposure to the rain. Products such as Neoproof® Polyurea R or Neoproof® PU Fast -30 have resistance to rain after an hour. Other products are resistant after at least 24 hours. Full hardening of resinous waterproofing membranes is obtained from several hours to even 7 days, depending on the products, as well as the prevailing weather conditions.

FAQ: roof hydro -insulation

The cost depends on the type of materials used, the roof surface and the complexity of the work. The average cost is from several dozen to even over one hundred zlotys per square meter. Roof hydro -insulation is an investment that brings long -term benefits. Properly made, protects the building against moisture and leaks, ensuring the comfort and safety of its users.

Self -insulation is possible, but requires appropriate knowledge and skills. For larger roofs or complex constructions, it is worth using the services of specialists.

The best material depends on the type of roof. Products such as Neoproof® Polyurea R , Neoproof® PU W -40 or Neoproof® PU Fast -30 are modern solutions with high durability. They are great on exposed flat roofs, various substrates from roofing felt, through concrete, to metal substrates.
