Paints for galvanized roofs
Suitable paint for a galvanized roof
Metal and sheet metal roofs are very demanding substrates for paint. These are typically large surfaces exposed to alternating heating and cooling, causing them to constantly shrink and stretch. It's crucial that the coating or paint used on sheet metal, metal, or galvanized roofs be flexible, so it can withstand the loads. Another crucial issue is the appropriate thickness of the coating – if the layer is too thin, it won't have enough room to stretch and will crack, leading to peeling. Below is a brief overview of paints for galvanized, sheet metal, and metal roofs.

Lowicin paints
Lowicin is a brand of roofing paints that has been on the market and in use for over 20 years. These polyvinyl paints are flexible and can be applied directly to non-corroded galvanized surfaces, well-adhered old paint coats, and coated sheet metal. Three variants are available:
- Lowicin – a solvent-based polyvinyl paint with a matte finish. Our most popular product.
- Lowicin-Sx - paint with a glossy finish.
- eko-Lowicyn - ecological water-based paint with a semi-matt finish.
All Lowicin paints are characterized by color durability and provide excellent protection for galvanized, metal, and sheet metal roofs. With appropriate primers, they can also be used on corroded surfaces.
Product offer
Polyvinyl primer available in a wide range of colors. For painting galvanized surfaces. Creates a smooth coating with good adhesion to the substrate.
An anti-corrosion primer that provides a matte finish. Ideal for roofs and galvanized steel surfaces, it protects against corrosion and provides an aesthetically pleasing appearance.
- NOTE: THIS IS A WATER-BASED PRODUCT. Select temperature-controlled shipping to receive your product on the promised date, regardless of weather conditions. Standard shipping may be delayed due to temperatures below 5°C encountered along the delivery route.
Ecological, solvent-free paint for protective and decorative use. For coating structural elements, machine components, and equipment. The painted surface has a semi-matt finish.
Polyurethane aluminum anti-corrosion paint for steel, metal, or concrete. Can be applied at low temperatures (-18°C) and high humidity (up to 99%)— practically year-round, regardless of weather conditions. For anti-corrosion protection and painting of bridges, steel structures, roofs, steel pipes, etc.
A primer that protects surfaces from rust in corrosivity classes C3 to CX. Can be applied even over rust residue. Contains aluminum pigments.
Preparing galvanized steel for painting - what to do?
keyboard_arrow_down keyboard_arrow_upLike any other metal surface, galvanized surfaces should be thoroughly washed and degreased before painting. The best way to do this is to use warm, pressurized water with Emulsol RN-1 . We recommend against degreasing the surface with solvents or white spirit. These agents evaporate very quickly, easily leaving dirt on the surface and smearing it instead of removing it.
What paint to use for galvanized sheet metal roofing?
keyboard_arrow_down keyboard_arrow_upWhen painting metal roofs, use paints that are flexible. Roofs move with temperature changes – they expand in hot weather and contract in cold weather. Although this isn't visible to the naked eye, it significantly impacts the durability of the paint used. If it isn't flexible enough, cracks will quickly appear and the paint will begin to peel. Furthermore, the paint should be compatible with galvanized steel, and not all paints meet this requirement. By choosing paints from the Lowicin or the Telkyd S 220 , you can be sure that the coating will be durable.
How to paint the roof - brush or spray gun?
keyboard_arrow_down keyboard_arrow_upWhen painting a roof, it's crucial that the applied coating is tight and thoroughly covers the entire surface. A spray gun is best for this. If that's not possible, you can apply it with a brush, but be sure to thoroughly cover all the nooks and crannies.
