Roofing felt paints (or more accurately, liquid roofing felt coatings) are specialized products designed for waterproofing, protecting, repairing, and renovating roofs covered with roofing felt. The properties of liquid roofing coatings allow them to adequately protect the roof from weather conditions, such as water and UV radiation, thus extending the roof's lifespan. In this category, you'll find the right products and systems for your roofing needs!

Protection and renovation of roofing felt - waterproofing
Roof felt roofs are exposed to weather conditions, which can cause wear and tear on the roof covering. Waterproofing a roof felt is crucial. To ensure long-term roof protection, use specialized products designed to address these issues. It's best to apply roof felt coatings and paints immediately after applying the roof felt. However, if this isn't an option because the roof you want to protect is older, you can safely do so. Before applying the paint, inspect the roof covering for damage. Remember to fill any gaps before painting the roof with roofing paint. Special paints for roof felt and bitumen shingles can be easily applied to a properly prepared substrate.
It is worth taking care of your roof and painting it every few years, according to the manufacturer's recommendations for your chosen paint or liquid coating.
Most common problems and solutions
Leaks are the most common problem on felt-covered roofs, which is why proper and effective roof waterproofing is so important. Critical areas, such as joints and flashings, are often poorly constructed or become leaky over time. The leak is usually difficult to pinpoint – water penetrating one spot can leak out somewhere else entirely. The ideal solution to these problems is to cover the roof with a liquid waterproof membrane. The coating is very easy to apply – with a roller or brush. A seamless surface is created, creating a tight waterproofing "bathtub." These coatings are exceptionally flexible, allowing them to work in concert with the substrate. We offer films and liquid membranes for waterproofing felt-covered roofs:
Neoroof , a hybrid liquid acrylic coating, cures in the presence of sunlight, making it significantly more resistant to dirt adhesion. The white color is certified for solar reflectivity, reflecting 88% of UV rays, significantly reducing the temperature on the roof and in the rooms beneath it.
Neoproof PU W-40 – a polyurethane waterproof membrane used when the highest mechanical and waterproofing properties are required. It is ideal for waterproofing roofing felt.
The surface can be additionally reinforced with Neotextile , thus extending the durability of the coating up to 20 years.

A liquid, UV-cured roof waterproofing membrane. Suitable for all roofing types, including roofing felt . The white coating perfectly reflects solar radiation (up to 88%) and reduces roof temperatures by up to 40% . It provides complete sealing and weather resistance.
Neoroof liquid membrane has a European Technical Assessment (ETA 24/1246) and is classified in the highest durability class W3 (according to EAD 030350-00-0402), which confirms its expected service life of up to 25 yearsin a reinforced system (1.2 mm).
A two-component, cold-applied polyurea waterproofing membrane for roofs, terraces, or balconies. Rainproof within 1 hour of application. It prevents moisture absorption and seals. Resistant to UV radiation and mechanical damage.
Neoproof Polyurea R has a European Technical Assessment (ETA 24/1247) and is classified in the highest durability category W3 according to EAD 030350-00-0402, which confirms an expected service life of up to 25 years.
Neoproof Polyurea R liquid roof membrane is root resistant (according to CEN/TS 14416:2014 ), external fire resistanceEN 13501-5 . Polyurea R is classified as Broof (t1) and has certified "cool roof" properties (Cool Material ).

A filler for joints and gaps. It adheres to the substrate, is weather-resistant, and can be repainted. Recommended for use under flexible roof coatings.
Covering felt with liquid membranes is not only a great way to waterproof it, but also to lower the temperature of the roof and the rooms beneath it. For example, the white Neoroof is certified for solar reflectivity – it reflects as much as 88% of sunlight, which translates to a 40% reduction in roof temperature! It's worth noting that repainting the felt in other light colors will also lower the roof temperature. So, if for some reason white isn't to your liking, you can choose a gray or brick color, for example. The effect won't be as dramatic as white, but compared to black felt, you'll definitely notice the difference.
Cold sealing of roofing felt - is it possible?
keyboard_arrow_downkeyboard_arrow_up
Roofing felt can be successfully cold-sealed using liquid waterproofing membranes such as Neoproof PU W-40 or Neoproof Polyurea R. These products are applied by brush, roller, or spray. They don't require a torch. If you know where the water leak is, you can perform a local repair. However, water often leaks from a completely different location than the actual leak. In such cases, it's necessary to coat the entire roof. Covering the entire surface has additional benefits, such as significantly lowering the temperature on the roof and in the rooms beneath it.
What can be used to seal old roofing felt?
keyboard_arrow_downkeyboard_arrow_up
Instead of adding additional layers of felt or mastic, it's best to seal the old felt with a liquid waterproofing membrane. You can choose a water-based, single-component product like Neoproof PU W-40 or a two-component polyurea coating like Neoproof Polyurea R.
How to paint bitumen shingles?

Bituminous shingles can be painted using the same systems as heat-sealed roofing felt. We can choose from two systems: Neoproof Polyurea R – a two-component, solvent-based, liquid polyurea membrane. The product is applied directly to the shingles, without priming. Neoproof PU W-40 – a single-component, water-based, liquid polyurethane membrane. This product is easier to apply but requires priming with the Revinex system primer.
