EPODUX IM 209 for technical water tanks

Epodux IM 209 for technical water tanks is a moisture-tolerant paint designed to protect steel structures and concrete immersed in fresh, sea and salt water. It is also perfect for painting swimming pools. Thanks to the hardening process that takes place under water, the element can be immersed in water just 30 minutes after painting. The hardened coating is tight, so it can be applied to seeping concrete tanks. If a coating with high chemical resistance is required, check the Neopox CR .

Application to steel substrate

The paint can be applied directly to non-corroded steel. If there are any corrosion spots on the surface, loose rust should be removed mechanically and then the rust remover should be applied Neodur Metalforce . After 24 hours, apply Neopox Primer 815 . In the case of stainless steel, use Neotex Inox Primer.

Application on concrete

A common problem with closed concrete tanks is that the concrete cannot be completely dried. In such a case, we recommend using Neopox Primer WS (concrete humidity < 100%). If the tank is buried in the ground and there is a problem with waterproofing on the ground side, we recommend using an epoxy primer resistant to capillary moisture, Neopox Primer AY (concrete humidity < 8-10%). If none of the above-mentioned moisture problems occur, you can use a "traditional" epoxy primer, e.g. Epoxol Primer SF-P . You can also choose the quick-drying polyurea primer Neodur Fast Track PR , which can be repainted after 2-3 hours. For weaker concretes that require strengthening, you can use a solvent-based primer that will penetrate deeper into the substrate, e.g. Epoxol Primer . In this case you will need to prime twice. Cavities in the substrate can be filled with the epoxy putty Epoxol Putty or the quick-drying polyurea putty Neodur FT Putty. In the case of closed tanks, adequate ventilation must be ensured at every stage of work, regardless of the selected underlay.

Recommended layer thicknesses:

• Fresh or salt water tanks, temperature < 40°C - 2 x 100 µm - efficiency for a full layer of 4.2 m ² /l
• Tanks for chemicals, sewage - 2 x 200 µm - efficiency for a full layer of 2.1 m ² /l
• Fresh or salt water tanks, temperature > 40°C and < 120°C - 2 x 250 µm - efficiency for a full layer of 1.6 m ² /l

Epodux IM 209 for technical water tanks - properties:

• 30 minutes after painting, the element can be immersed in water, where the hardening process will take place (underwater polymerization),
• good adhesion on cold and damp surfaces (not dripping), this function allows painting active channels without large time losses related to maintenance breaks,
• does not chalk under the influence of UV light (only slight discoloration possible),
• perfect protection for seeping concrete tanks (tight coating)

Epodux IM 209 is a two-component paint (the price is for the set, i.e. the base with the hardener). If you want to mix a smaller amount of paint, we recommend a mug for mixing paints and varnishes
