How to properly protect or renovate the pool so that the effect lasts for years? Every year the popularity of the so-called outdoor swimming pools. During the hot summer, most people dream of a swimming pool filled with pristine water. But is water always suitable for use and safe? In order to maintain the best possible water properties, owners usually use a lot of care treatments to clean and maintain the pool surface. Unfortunately, these are temporary solutions that consume a lot of money and time.

We meet all difficulties and focus on solutions that minimize the number and frequency of care treatments. One of such solutions is the Neopox Pool , based on which you can obtain an innovative and easy-to-apply pool security system .

By painting swimming pool surfaces with a resin called Neopox Pool, we obtain smooth, uniform coatings that are easy to clean and resistant to weather conditions. The long-term cleanliness of the coating results from its properties - the slippery finish and lack of joints on the entire surface make it difficult for algae to stick and water to penetrate through the surface layers. The coating is resistant to chlorine and water pressure, so it does not come off the surface. UV filters ensure color durability . The Neopox Pool product provides a fully tight coating on various substrates, which is why it is ideal for renovating old tanks finished with e.g. tiles. Depending on the type of substrate, the resin is used without or with primer.

When applied to dry concrete, the resin only needs to be properly diluted with a system thinner . The protection of a pool made of a synthetic material called polyester is similar (the polyester coating should be matt before applying Neopox Pool). In the case of tiles, the substrate should be primed in one layer with a primer called Super Binder RO3333 .

Pool protection – Preparation of the substrate before applying the Neopox Pool product

Before applying the resin, each type of substrate should be cleaned of dust and other contaminants that could have a negative impact on the adhesion between the product and the substrate. If old coatings are present, they must be removed

Sulfanol-A is best for cleaning concrete , and Emulsol-RN1 . The Sulfanol A product is used undiluted. To clean the surface, it is spread over the entire substrate and rinsed thoroughly with water 10-15 minutes Emulsol RN-1 works in a similar way to Sulfanol A, but before application, the preparation is diluted with water, creating a 2-3% solution . The surface should then be washed with water .

After cleaning the surface, you can proceed to the next stage , i.e. priming . Below is a list of sample soils dedicated to various types of soil.

Type of substrate Ground Theoretical consumption/performance
Dry concrete, polyester -* -*
Concrete that absorbs moisture through capillary action Neopox Primer AY for one layer 0.4-0.5 kg/m2
Fresh concrete (minimum 2 weeks) Neopox Primer WS for one layer 0.2-0.3kg/m2
Tiles Super Binder RO3333 from 1l to 30 m2
Metal Neopox Special Primer 1225 for one layer 0.14-0.17 kg/m2

* when applied to dry concrete, no primer is required, which makes the application simple and quick. Neopox Pool only needs to be diluted with the systemic thinner: the first layer 8%, the second and third 4%.

Neopox Pool application

Most of the strengths of the Neopox Pool product result from its unique properties. Neopox Pool is epoxy resin that is highly resistant to weather conditions and other factors. Neopox Pool is also highly resistant to chlorine, the agent most often used to disinfect water in swimming pools . The phenomenon of chalking is very common among epoxy resins. In the case of Neopox Pool resin, the coating does not degrade under the influence of radiation because it contains a special UV filter. The product is also resistant to fluctuations in a wide temperature range: from -20'C to 70'C, which is a big advantage when using the product in outdoor tanks .

Depending on the substrate, Neopox Pool is applied in 2-3 layers using a nylon roller , a brush with natural bristles or airless spray. For newly painted surfaces, we recommend applying three layers, and for renovation painting, we recommend applying two layers. Theoretical consumption for one layer with a thickness of 80 microns is 0.165 kg/m 2 . Depending on the type of substrate and its condition, product consumption may vary. It is very important not to save on the number of layers or the amount of paint applied, because too thin a coating will allow water to pass through and lead to the resin detaching from the substrate.

During application, parameters such as temperature and air humidity are also important. The minimum temperature during application is 12'C . Air humidity should be less than 70% . The time interval that should be used between layers depends on the temperature at which the product will be applied. At the lowest permitted temperature, i.e. 12'C, the time after which another layer can be added is 36 hours . The higher the temperature, the shorter the drying time.

We recommend that you follow all the above-mentioned parameters during application in order to obtain a coating with the properties described above and enjoy it in good condition for many years. Failure to comply with them may cause problems with the coating hardening, its separation from the substrate, etc.
