Anti-corrosion paint for C3 - what does it mean?
keyboard_arrow_down keyboard_arrow_upAccording to the PN EN ISO 12944-2 standard, there are 6 categories of environmental corrosivity: C1, C2, C3, C4, C5 and CX. Class C1 is the lowest class (non-aggressive environment, inside dry rooms), and class CX means the most aggressive corrosive environment, i.e. coastal areas. Class C3 is the middle class and means urban atmosphere, coastal areas with low salinity, production rooms where there is moisture (food plants, breweries, etc.). The paint and, above all, the coating thickness should be selected according to the corrosive environment and the required durability.
How long does it take to dry?

We can choose a quick-drying alkyd primer , where the second layer can be applied using the wet-on-wet method after just 30 minutes. However, if we choose a two-component epoxy primer , the second layer can be applied after 24 hours.
Can anti-corrosion paint for C3 be painted directly onto rust?
keyboard_arrow_down keyboard_arrow_upNo, the substrate should usually be cleaned of rust before painting to achieve a surface preparation level of Sa 2.5. If this is not possible, you can use a rust remover or choose an elastomeric paint to apply directly to the rust .
Corrosion class C3 - what is the coating thickness?

According to the PN EN ISO 12944-1 standard, there are 4 shelf life periods: - short (L) - up to 7 years - medium (M) - from 7 to 15 years - long (H) - from 15 to 25 years - very long (VH) - over 25 years The most frequently required shelf life is short, medium and long. For class C3, the coating thickness in these cases is 100μm, 120-160μm and 180μm, respectively.
