Priming concrete floors
Why is it important to ensure proper priming of concrete floors?
Properly priming the substrate for resin floors has a significant impact on the quality, durability, and appearance of the topcoat. Using the right primer will reduce the substrate's absorbency and strengthen the surface.
We offer solvent-based, water-based, and solvent-free primers. This category also includes primers for unusual substrates, such as tiles or fresh/damp concrete.

Product offer
A solvent-free, epoxy primer that strengthens cementitious substrates. For interior and exterior use.
Solvent-free epoxy primer intended for use on concrete with no or improperly installed damp proofing.
A systemic primer for use under Neodur Fast Track polyurea/polyaspartic flooring resin. It can be applied at low temperatures, down to -10°C. It allows for the application of the surface within 3 hours of applying the primer (at +25°C).
A hybrid primer (polyurethane-polyurea) that allows for topcoat application in just 3 hours. It provides high mechanical and chemical resistance.

Primer for use on various substrates: concrete, plaster, gypsum, brick, wood and wood-like materials, and plasterboard. Once applied, it creates a transparent layer. For indoor and outdoor use under water-based epoxy paints.
Troken Floor PROTECT 3in1 is a two-component, environmentally friendly, water-based epoxy resin. Thanks to specially selected components, it can be used in three applications as a single product. It can be used as an epoxy primer, leveling compound, or smooth topcoat. Troken Floor PROTECT 3in1 is based on an epoxy resin resistant to oil, grease, fuels, and other chemicals. Its low VOC content allows for use in garages, industrial halls, residential buildings, and public buildings.
TrokenPox Accelerator is a specialized primer additive designed to accelerate the curing process of epoxy resins. It shortens epoxy curing time by up to 6 hours, even at low temperatures.
A two-component, solvent-free epoxy primer for dry and oiled concrete substrates. It strengthens the substrate, creates a bonding layer, and adheres perfectly to concrete surfaces.
A single-component polyurethane primer designed for surface preparation before applying resin systems. Ideal for asphalt , cement , and metal . Quick-drying and flexible , it provides excellent adhesion and shortens project implementation time.
What about concrete paint?
keyboard_arrow_down keyboard_arrow_upWhen choosing a primer for concrete paint, we need to pay attention to two factors: 1. The primer's compatibility with the chosen paint/flooring resin. The technical data sheet for each flooring resin will provide information on the primers that can be used with it. As a rule, epoxy primers can be used under any flooring resin (epoxy, polyurethane, polyurea) and are usually a safe choice. It's best to choose system primers from the same manufacturer, as this will ensure no damage (assuming proper application). 2. The condition, quality, and type of substrate to be primed. We have a variety of primers to choose from, each tailored to the specific substrate's needs. While a dry, high-quality concrete substrate is no problem, fresh concrete or concrete subject to capillary action are a completely different story. Below, we present several resin primers and the situations in which they perform best. Epoxol Primer SF-P - a standard, solvent-free epoxy primer. Apply to dry, seasoned concrete substrates without moisture problems. Epoxol Primer – as above, but the product is solvent-based. Suitable for reinforcing absorbent, unstable substrates. Neopox Primer WS – a solvent-free epoxy primer for damp and/or fresh concrete (minimum 14 days old). Suitable for moisture that has penetrated the concrete from above, for example, from rainfall or frequent surface washing, if the surface has not been allowed to dry. Neopox Primer AY – a solvent-free epoxy primer that seals off capillary moisture, for example, in the event of missing or damaged subsurface waterproofing. Neodur Fast Track PR – a fast-drying polyurea primer, recommended where time is of the essence. Also suitable for use at low temperatures (minimum +5°C).
What primer for wet ground?
keyboard_arrow_down keyboard_arrow_upIn the case of a wet subfloor, we must distinguish between situations based on the source of the moisture. Moisture from the outside, from above, refers to moisture, for example, from rainfall or from frequent washing of the floor and the inability to dry it. In such cases, we use Neopox Primer WS. Moisture rising from below the floor by capillary action, from the ground beneath the floor, when there is no waterproofing or it is damaged. In such cases, we use Neopox Primer AY.
Is priming necessary?
keyboard_arrow_down keyboard_arrow_upWith a few exceptions (e.g., Neopox Special applied to good-quality concrete "without problems"), priming the substrate for resin flooring is essential. The substrate should be primed for several reasons: - to close pores, which is particularly important for resin self-leveling screeds - to equalize absorbency, which translates into greater resin performance and a uniform appearance - to improve the durability and adhesion of the entire system.
