How to make a polyurethane resin floor? 

Before applying the resin floor, it is worth thoroughly cleaning, vacuuming and degreasing the surface before pouring the resin over the surface. If there are any irregularities on the substrate, they should be leveled with putty. It is also important to know how long the polyurethane floor takes to dry - this will allow for optimal planning of the resumption of traffic or use of a given surface. The answer to the question about the drying time is complex, as it depends on many factors: room temperature, humidity, resin thickness.

Which resin is better – polyurethane or epoxy?

The answer to this question is subjective and it is impossible to clearly answer which type of resin is better. Both epoxy and polyurethane coatings have their advantages. It always depends on where it is to be used and what budget has been allocated for the project. For example, if we want to use it outdoors, e.g. on balconies, terraces or gas stations, resistance to UV radiation and other atmospheric conditions will be important - in this case, aliphatic polyurethane resins are highly durable and do not turn yellow over time.  

What polyurethane floor for a balcony - a product resistant to UV rays

They are great for use on outdoor floors as they are resistant to UV radiation, so they do not turn yellow or chalk - provided the floor is made of an aliphatic resin, there are aromatic versions on the market that are not UV resistant.

The most basic solution for a balcony will be to use a primer, e.g. Neotex NEOPOX PRIMER WS wet concrete primer and Neodur Special resin. The use of Neodur Special has a number of benefits - primarily, together with the epoxy primer, it provides a waterproofing effect. Neodur Special can be tinted in any color from the RAL palette, so the balcony will be a great complement to the building. How long does polyurethane resin take to dry?

Does this floor scratch?

Due to their higher elasticity, floors made of polyurethane resins have the ability to bridge cracks. To increase scratch resistance, a colorless varnish is used as a top layer. The varnish will provide additional protection against scratches, but will also allow for easy renovation of the floor in the event of scratches. All you need to do is matt the top layer and apply it again. Proper care is also very important - regular removal of dirt will slow down the formation of scratches.

Is polyurethane flooring harmful to health?

It is not harmful to health. Polyurethane floors can be found in hospitals and schools - where it is important to maintain a non-toxic environment. Its use may even have health benefits. There are highly flexible variants available on the market, so walking on them does not burden the joints. Additionally, some products have antistatic properties, which makes life easier for allergy sufferers - dust does not stick to the floor and it is easy to keep it clean.
