Epoxy resins for floors in industrial facilities – application
We offer colorful epoxy resins recommended for interior applications. You will use them on concrete surfaces - remember to prepare them properly! Epoxy floor paint – properties
Epoxy resin is used as a flooring in the above-mentioned places because it has unique properties. Among them, it is worth emphasizing:
- mechanical resistance - epoxy for floors is not damaged even by heavy loads, so it is perfect for warehouses where forklifts are used or in car workshops where there is a high turnover of vehicles,
- chemical resistance – if your facility uses various types of strong chemicals, the floor is exposed to destruction. Epoxy floor resins are resistant to damage resulting from contact with oils and greases, solvents, gasoline or other alkaline and acidic solutions. They can also be used in corrosive environments,

FAQ: Epoxy floor resin
Polyurethane and epoxy resin - what are the differences?
keyboard_arrow_down keyboard_arrow_upThe main difference between these products is resistance to solar radiation, and therefore the possibility of using coatings outdoors. Epoxy resins are not resistant to UV radiation and cannot be used outdoors except as a primer or intermediate coat, which will then be covered with an appropriate topcoat. The exception are some resins for swimming pools or stone carpets, but these are isolated cases. In the case of polyurethane resins, there are two options - these products can be based on aromatic (cheaper) or aliphatic (more expensive) resins. Resins based on aliphatic components are fully resistant to UV radiation, do not turn yellow or discolor. Such coatings can be used outdoors, e.g. Neodur Special . Another difference between these resins is that polyurethane resins are slightly more flexible than epoxy resins. Therefore, they scratch less and are more impact resistant. In terms of chemical resistance, these coatings are comparable.
Execution - how to do it?
keyboard_arrow_down keyboard_arrow_upTo properly apply epoxy resin on the floor, it is very important to properly prepare the surface. The concrete substrate should be even, clean, without defects, and sanded to open the pores and ensure good adhesion. The concrete itself should be of good quality. The first step is to prime the substrate. A resin primer should be used and the entire surface should be thoroughly covered. If it turns out that the substrate has a higher absorbency (dull stains remain), the priming must be repeated. We choose systemic resin primers, we do not prime the floors with uniprime products. Then we start applying the selected flooring resin. Depending on the system, the resin is applied with a roller (coating) or a squeegee (self-leveling). All products included in the system are two-component. This means that before application you have to mix the two ingredients and then use them within a certain time.
How to apply epoxy resins?

Solvent-based coating resins - e.g. Neopox Special - are applied velvet roller or by spraying. Solvent-free coating resins - e.g. Neopox SF Plus - can also be applied with a velvet roller or in one thick layer with a squeegee. Self-leveling epoxy screeds - e.g. Epoxol Floor - are applied using a squeegee and a deaeration roller . You will also need spiked shoe covers.
How to mix epoxy?
keyboard_arrow_down keyboard_arrow_upEpoxy resins are two-component products, before painting, combine the base and hardener in the appropriate proportion (weight or volume). Small amounts of resin (up to 1 kg) can be mixed manually using, for example, a wooden mixer. Larger amounts should be mixed mechanically, using a low-speed mixer, so as not to add air to the mixture. Improper mixing of the ingredients may prevent the coating from hardening, so it is worth taking care of this aspect of material preparation.
Substrate for epoxy resin - which is the best?
keyboard_arrow_down keyboard_arrow_upIn the case of epoxy flooring, the best substrate is good quality concrete. It is also possible to paint screed or anhydrite, but these are higher absorbent surfaces and it may turn out that the resin efficiency will be lower.
How to protect epoxy resin?
keyboard_arrow_down keyboard_arrow_upColorless polyurethane varnishes, such as Neodur Varnish or Neodur Varnish W Mat, . This protects the surface from scratches and also allows you to change the finish to matte if necessary (resins are usually shiny).
