Epoxy paints
What are epoxy paints?
Epoxy paints are specialized protective coatings that are characterized by exceptional durability and resistance to various external factors. They are widely used in many industries due to their unique properties.
Composition and properties of epoxy paints
Epoxy paints consist of two main components: epoxy resin and hardener. After mixing them, a chemical reaction occurs, which leads to the creation of a hard and durable coating. The key properties of epoxy paints include:
- Abrasion resistance : thanks to its hardness, these paints are resistant to mechanical damage.
- Chemical resistance : effectively protects the surfaces against aggressive chemicals, including acids, bases, fuels or oils.
- Adhesion : perfectly adhere to different types of substrates, providing long -term protection.
- Moisture resistance : protect the surfaces against moisture and corrosion.
Application of epoxy paints
Epoxy paints are used in many sectors, such as:
- Industry : protection of steel structures, floors, tanks or pipelines against corrosion.
- Construction : painting concrete floors in warehouses, production halls or garages.
Types of epoxy paints
Depending on the specific needs, various types of epoxy paints are available:
Concrete epoxy paint
Ideal for protecting concrete floors, providing them with resistance to abrasion and chemicals. Thanks to its construction, it adheres perfectly to the concrete ground. An example would be Neopox® Special , as well as concrete epoxy soils such as EPOXOL® Primer , EPOXOL® Primer SF-P or Neopox® Primer WS .
Epoxy paint for metal
It protects metal surfaces against corrosion and mechanical damage. All this thanks to the metallic pigments used, which have an anti -corrosive effect. There are both anti -corrosion soils and Neopox® Primer 815 , Gruntoemalie Telpox S200 or enamel without anti -corrosive additives such as Telpox T300 . When using enamel, which does not have anti -corrosive pigments, it is necessary to use epoxy soil, which has this ingredient in its construction.
Tile epoxy paint
It allows you to renew old tiles, giving them a new look and increasing their durability. of the Superspoe RO 3333 works , which is applied directly to washed and degreased tiles. It creates an ideal undercoat for epoxy resin in color, enabling high grip. Neopox® epoxide paint in Plus is used. This product is colored according to the RAL palette, so it is possible to implement the most colorful projects without fear of material availability.
Garage epoxy paint
Used on garage floors, it provides resistance to oils, lubricants and other chemicals. There are both entire floor systems, which include epoxy soil with epoxy paint. There are also products that can fulfill both of these functions, thanks to which the floor system is made of one product. An example is Troken Floor Protect 3in1 , which allows application as epoxy soil, epoxy enamel, but also an epoxy leveling layer, i.e. Scratch Coat.
Advantages of using epoxy paints
The use of epoxy paints has many benefits:
- Durability : long -term surface protection.
- Resistance : Effective protection against chemicals and moisture.
- Aesthetics : the possibility of obtaining a smooth and aesthetic coating. In some cases, it is possible to obtain almost every color from the RAL palette, e.g. Neopox® in Plus . Thanks to this, the realizations of various color variants are possible on the wall or floor.
- Ease of cleaning : surfaces covered with epoxy paint are easy to keep clean. All you need is a mop with soft bristles and hot water with a delicate detergent.
How to prepare a surface for painting with epoxy paint?
Proper surface preparation is crucial for obtaining a durable and aesthetic coating. Here are the steps to take:
1. Cleaning of the surface
All dirt, fats, oils and other impurities from the surface should be removed. If the surface has greasy spots, which reduces the adhesion of epoxy paint, it is necessary to use degreasing agents like sulfanol A or Emulsol . It is important to thoroughly wash the residues of these agents, as this can affect the weaker adhesion of epoxy paint.
2. Removal of loose elements
It is necessary to remove the flaky paint, rust or other loose fragments that can affect the adhesion of the new coating. In the case of concrete substrates, it is important that the surface is most uniform as possible. For this purpose, all defects and cracks should be supplemented. You can use ready-made repair masses such as EPOPXOL® Putty or Liquid , or non-release epoxy soils such as Neopox® Primer WS or EPOXOL® Primer SF-P mixed with fine quartz sand.
3. Grinding
Each time before applying epoxy paint, it is recommended to sand the surface to ensure better adhesion. In the case of systems based on epoxy paints, applied with a brush or roller, light grinding is recommended, which will open the structures of e.g. concrete and increase its absorbency, and at the same time significantly increase the adhesion of the entire system.
4. Priming
Depending on the type of substrate, the appropriate soil is used that will increase the adhesion of epoxy paint. For this purpose, epoxy soils are used, which, depending on the type of protected substrate, will increase its adhesion. In the case of low -quality concrete substrates such as screed or anhydrite, the EPOXOL PRIMER® . It penetrates the structures of the concrete, strengthening it properly. Epoxol® Primer SF-P will work as an epoxy soil closing the absorbency of concrete . It is worth using epoxy soils such as Neopox® Primer WS or Neopox® Primer AY . The tiles are protected with adhesive epoxy ground RO 3333 SuperSpoyvo Neopox® Primer 815 or Telpox P170 is used for anti -corrosion protection .
