What is wall priming for paint?

Priming is an activity preceding painting the walls. The land has many uses during construction work. Applying the appropriate substance guarantees strengthening, equalization of absorbency and preparation for applying subsequent layers. Applying primer is a very important element of finishing works.

The most important parameters to pay attention to when choosing a preparation are the type of substrate on which it will be used, the humidity and temperature of the room, and the individual characteristics of the finishing material.

Types of paint primers used

Depending on the wall material, different types of primers are used:

Before applying the plaster, it is necessary to use an appropriate primer. It is best to use deeply penetrating preparations that will penetrate the structure of the substrate, strengthen it and ensure adequate absorbency.

Before applying the paint, the wall surface must be properly primed. Then remember to take an appropriate break before starting painting. Choosing the right agent is not the easiest thing and depends on the condition of the substrate. If the walls are in good condition, it is usually enough to use a reinforcing primer, but if their condition leaves much to be desired, it is worth choosing a deeply penetrating primer.

In what situations is the use of land necessary?

Priming walls is especially important when:

  • wallpaper or paint has been removed,
  • in the case of painting new plasters and plasters,
  • have an irregular structure,
  • have visible mechanical damage,
  • are located in rooms with high humidity,
  • corrections were made to their surface (e.g. plastering),
  • there is visible dirt that cannot be removed with water,
  • the substrate is unstable, dusty and requires strengthening.
