Paints for galvanizing

Galvanized surfaces require specialized paint products and proper preparation to ensure optimal adhesion. It's important to remember that galvanizing is a difficult substrate. Applying inappropriate coatings can lead to delamination and peeling. To prevent this, thoroughly clean the surface before painting and use proven products. In this category, you'll find galvanizing paints designed for use in environments with corrosiveness classes C1 to C3. They can be used both indoors and outdoors. Order them in any color from a wide range of RAL shades and customize them to suit the site's design and the investor's individual preferences.

Galvanized paint – application

A layer of galvanized metal surfaces serves to protect them, extending the life of sheet metal and steel structures. However, it doesn't last forever, and you must be aware that, if left without additional protection, it will sooner or later begin to corrode and deteriorate. To prevent this and further strengthen the protection, it's worth using specialized anti-corrosion paints. They create a flexible and durable coating, and thanks to their availability in a variety of colors, you can easily match them to the requirements of a specific project.

The paints for galvanization and rust available in our store can be used, among others, to paint:

  • steel structures,
  • tin roofs,
  • metal facades,
  • steel, aluminum and brass both inside and out,
  • gutters,
  • pipes,
  • mesh fences.

Paint for painting zinc – properties

This anti-corrosion paint for galvanized steel requires no priming – its zinc phosphate content protects the painted surface from corrosion. Resistance to atmospheric conditions is a key parameter. The galvanized steel paint interacts with the painted surface, reacting with it to temperature changes, preventing cracking or chipping.

In this category you will find a polyvinyl primer with an impressively fast drying time – this significantly speeds up the work and allows you to complete the investment on time.

What paint is best for galvanizing?

Polyvinyl paints are best for painting galvanized surfaces. They are resistant to weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and fading due to prolonged exposure to sunlight.

For best results, remember that the surface must be clean, dry, and degreased. Also, remove any existing corrosion spots and old paint layers. If you're painting fresh galvanized steel, it may be necessary to etch the surface first to improve adhesion.

FAQ: Paints for galvanizing

Galvanized metal surfaces are a substrate that cannot be painted just any way. They have limited adhesion and usually require special preparation (etching) before painting. If our paint is not suitable for painting directly onto galvanized surfaces, we can use a special Neotex Inox Primer , which ensures excellent adhesion.

Galvanized surfaces should be painted either with specially designed paints or with special bonding primers. Examples of such paints include products from the Lowicin , as well as the Telkyd S 220 , which is available in the full RAL color palette. Regardless of the method chosen, the surface should always be thoroughly washed first. For this purpose, we recommend Emulsol RN-1 , which is diluted with water. After washing, rinse the surface with clean water.

Metal roofs are surfaces that experience intense heat and cooling (e.g., in the evenings or during sudden rainfall on a hot day). Therefore, it's crucial to paint them with paints designed for this purpose, which are flexible and adapt to the substrate. In the case of galvanized sheet metal roofs, it's also crucial that the coating ensures good adhesion to the challenging substrate of galvanized metal. The first step, as before any painting, is proper substrate preparation. For this purpose, it's best to pressure wash the roof using diluted Emulsol RN-1 , and then rinse the surface with clean water. If there are any corrosion spots on the roof, protect them with Neodur Metalforce or Top-Kor . Then, proceed to painting with a topcoat. Regardless of the paint chosen, always apply at least two coats. This will ensure a coating of sufficient thickness, allowing it to stretch and resist cracking, once dry. Suitable paints will be products from the Lowicin or the Telkyd S 220 , available in the full RAL color palette.

Galvanized posts can be painted with single-component paints from the Lowicin or Telkyd S 220 , available in the full RAL color palette. This solution is suitable if the posts are located in areas not exposed to aggressive corrosive environments, such as within housing estates, in green areas, or on lightly used roads. However, if the posts are located on a busy road that is also subject to winter maintenance, it is worth considering using two-component chemically curing paints. In this case, the polyurethane primer/finish Lowigraf-Pur or Telpur S 210 , available in the full RAL color palette, will work well. Applying an epoxy primer, such as FEG-C,

Windowsills are surfaces that are often exposed to intense sunlight, which means they undergo intense wear and tear. Therefore, it's crucial that the paint you choose is flexible. For this reason, we recommend using the same paints for galvanized windowsills as for roofs, such as products from the Lowicin or the Telkyd S 220 , available in the full RAL color palette.
