Cold galvanist
What is cold galvanizing?
Cold galvanizing is a method of protecting metal against corrosion through the application of a coating rich in zinc without the need for high temperatures. Unlike fire galvanizing, this process does not require immersion of elements in melted zinc, which makes it more flexible and easier to make on site.
How does the cold galvanist work?
Zinc paint creates a protective coating that works in two ways:
- Cathodic (galvanic) protection - zinc molecules in the coating are oxidized instead of metal, which effectively protects it from corrosion.
- Barrier protection - the coating insulates metal from external factors such as moisture or chemicals.
Thanks to these cold -cold galvanized mechanisms, it provides long -term anti -corrosion protection.
In what situations is it worth using it?
Cold galvanizing is particularly recommended in the following cases:
- Repair of damaged zinc coatings - e.g. after welding or cutting, on tin roofs and other places where the galvanized layer was broken.
- Protection of steel structures - used in construction, maritime and energy industry, in order to increase the anti -corrosive properties of protected coatings.
- Protecting hard -to -reach elements - where fire galvanizing is not possible.
What are the types of cold galvanized?
Various preparations are available on the market, including:
- Cown paints in canned - e.g. Galva Zinc , ideal for application with a brush or roller in places with free access to a protected surface. Suitable for use both as a primer, as well as a surface layer. Galva Zinc ALU is a similar product, but it is suitable for new, cleansed or sanding surfaces. It is a product with quick -drying properties.
- Zinc spray - e.g. Galva Zinc spray , is a convenient solution for small surfaces. In this case, it is a grinding agent in the finish of the gray mat, which mainly protects the welds. The Galva Zinc Alu spray will work as a primer and novelty spray .
- Specialist preparations - with increased resistance to chemicals and high temperatures.
How to apply galvanized cold?
1. Choosing the right product
The choice of the right preparation depends on the type of surface, operating conditions and application methods.
2. Preparation of the surface
To ensure the effectiveness of the cold galvanized, the surface should be
- purified of dirt, oils and lubricants,
- skimmed with an appropriate solvent,
- Drove before applying paint
3. Application of zinc paint
Cold galvanized can be applied in several ways:
- Brush - for precise repairs,
- Roller - to larger surfaces,
- Pneumatic spray - for an even layer,
- Spray - e.g. Galva Zinc ALU spray to hard -to -reach places.
4. Application of subsequent layers
Depending on the product and the thickness of the required coating, it may be necessary to apply several layers. Each layer should be applied after the previous one is completely dried.
5. Curning and protection of the coating
After application, wait the full curing time, which ranges from several hours to several days. If necessary, you can additionally protect the coating with topcoat.

How long does the cold galvanist work?
keyboard_arrow_down keyboard_arrow_upCold galvanized durability depends on the thickness of the coating, environmental conditions and the quality of the application. A well -applied coating can protect metal for many years.
Can you paint the surface after galvanizing?
keyboard_arrow_down keyboard_arrow_upYes, most cold tin coatings allow painting. Make sure the coating is dry and paved before applying the topcoat.
What are the differences between cold and hot galvanizing?
keyboard_arrow_down keyboard_arrow_upHot galvanizing involves immersing metal in melted zinc, which provides a very durable coating. Cold galvanist works on the basis of zinc coating applied with paint, which allows for an easier and local application.
Cold galvanized, such as Galva Zinc or Galva Zinc Spray , is a perfect solution for metal protection against corrosion, especially in hard -to -reach places. Thanks to proper surface preparation and the use of high -quality products, you can obtain permanent and effective anti -corrosion protection.
